Lycopene is a red-colored carotene found in tomatoes and pink
grapefruit. It is a powerful anti-oxidant, which has been used to prevent cancer (notably prostate, pancreatic, colon, skin, breast, and digestive tract cancers), and cardiovascular disease.
Lycopene also protects cells against oxidative damage caused by "free radicals."
